It was a nice day, 22 degrees. It was a busy day at work. walked 2+2 miles. I could run a short part. Should have taken the day off.
I remembered the days when I was too young, we used to go to the Grandpa's summer house by the sea. Those were so happy days.

200 days to go
I did 2 runs today each around half an hour. One was 2,75 miles the other 2,1 mile. Feel kind of stressed these days. My workout times feel very good. (Even though they make me eat more afterwards.. ) can see the progress which makes me happy. Still 10K seems hard. Have no idea how hard to run a marathon..
Before staring training I was daydreaming on running half marathon in a year,but it seems hard for a while.. Now short term goal is decreasing body fat by 1% in 6 weeks.

War Horse

weekly run# 4
Woke up very early this morning, tried to sleep more. Ended up finishing the book I was reading. The Complete Book Of Running For Women by Claire Kowalchik. This was the third book i read after starting running. It covers lot of different topics on running. I only felt bad when realized that my 5k running time is not even closer to the lowest time in the traning chart. :)
Nevermind, I told myself. I am a beginner. Just trying to build up a basic training, make running/exercise a habit.
Around 7.30 am I went out for a quick workout around my house. It was windy and cold. Felt warmer soon, but running against the wind was still hard. I was able to measure the distance on the web page below. It was 2.176 miles.

I still have tomorrow to finish tha week but still wanted to write down today. This makes 18,126 miles for this week, a total of 45,7 miles for 4 weeks.

Bod Pod
Had my body fat measured today. It is surprisingly high. I am glad I don't have any related health problems so far. It is good to know though. Hope to see a better percentage on the April appointment. Still blaming a bit my two layered swim suit..
Had a good workout at noon. It has been almost 16 miles this week, I still have the weekend too.
Was feeling better until I suspected some bad news. :(
I might see Puss in Boots tomorrow. Probably will make me feel better.

Güzel bir gün..
Sabah boğazım kuruduğu için erkenden uyandım. Babamı gördüm rüyamda. Heyecanlıydı, bazı öğütler veriyordu.
İşler orta yoğunluktaydı, öğlen ve akşam spor salonuna gittim. Günümün güzel bölümleriydi. Öğlen fazla koşamadım, sol bacağımın arkası çekiyordu. Yürümek iyi geldi.. Akşam yüzdüm 35 dakika kadar. O da rahatlattı.
Randıman aldım bugün.. diye başlamıştım yazıya şimdi bir ağırlık çöktü..

Flight number 16-17
Took advantage of long weekend.
# 16 Yesterday,we flew Night Local. Everywhere looked different at night. I did not have much opportunity to enjoy the view when we arrived at the Springfield airport to study landings. For a moment I was feeling like a poet admiring the lights of the roads, and the city.. After a second I was wrestling with the yoke to land! Very big change.. It is harder than day time. Looking forward to second one next week to see some progress on landings. Hopefully the wind will be better. And I hope the weather will be warmer too.
Next one will be the second and last night flight for PPL. Night XC.
# 17 This morning we flew first XC. For the flight plan, you have to prepare navigation log. It is hard. It is the most important part of ground school that will be used during flight. Should have been covered deeper.
To start with we looked at the chart to figure out our route, at which airspace areas we would fly, if there was a restricted airspace on our destination. Then drew the line, picked reference points en route, measured the true course. Then started the hard part. We worked on standard briefing, TAF and METAR on http://www.aviationweather.gov/
Used the temperature, wind direction and value to find out the information on nav log.
Very tired now, will continue later. At the end of the day I am happy that I am learning how to fly.

Weekly run-3
This week I ran and walked 9 miles. (Today will be included to next week. 3 miles walk/jog/run outdoors with Mark. I was too tired but glad I pushed myself otherwise I would just rest at home.)
It was a busy week and I felt a bit sick, so could not find enough time to workout.
9 miles, a total of 27,6 miles in three weeks. Looking forward to seeing 15 miles per week.

Flight lesson # 15 sh
I had a flight today. It was the best part of the day. (Running after the flight was very good too!!)
We did short field take off. Two notches of flaps, brakes, full throttle, release the brakes. Lift off after 47 Knots. Aileron into the wind, little bit reverse rudder for wind correction.Climb over the obstacle. After obstacle is cleared accelerate to 79 Knots. Retract flaps gradually.
We worked on turn around a point, s-turns, using VOR, GPS. It has been some time since we worked them and it was a little confusing to do them regarding the wind. We did emergency procedures too. I know it is very important. But I find it hard to do that. Tried the short field landing. Remain 60 Knots of speed for final. (I did not do any trim.)I was a little high so did forward slip. Then reduced the throttle but could not manage to keep the nose down, and pulled it up.
I was under the hood for a while too. There was a bit cross wind. On Friday I plan fly to the training area and find my way back home.
After taking off I will turn left to the training area, fly with a heading 180. I will do stalls, slow flight and come back. I hope there won't be any other students flying out there!!
There is no problem in going away, the hard part is coming back. I am looking at the map now. After doing manuevers over Caeser Creek Lake, will turn back home up North. I have to see Point Alpha. How do I know that I am going towards to the Plant?
On my way to Point Alpha I should see Xenia on my right and Greene Airport on my left. It also depends on where i returned and the wind too.While coming back closer to the Plant should listen to the ATIS, then make the radio call to the tower and request option.
I have the GPS on the aircraft but not really sure how to use it. I can go to the club tomorrow at noon time and work on the GPS a bit to be comfortable using it..
But this a wonderful hobby.. My dream for many years.. I am glad that I am learning how to fly.

It felt so good to run
I am very happy that I could go to the Gym today. I felt awesome while driving home. Probably running on the threadmill is easier comperatively running on a track or on the road. But this is a good way to train in winter. And it is my first time to train for a run. After 3 days break I really wanted to workout. (I thought I had to, too.) After a busy work day I forced myself to go but now I am glad that I did that. I ran and walked more than an hour. I dont know how I will feel tomorrow. I don't really know how to put it; some muscles ache very sweetly.
Then had the most romantic dinner tonight when a bulb blew up in the living room. Thankfully the maintenence came shortly and fixed it.
Looking forward to weekend.. It is a kind of hard week.

weekly run
This week, I ran and walked 9.6 miles. Total with last week 19.6 miles. It is not much to be a runner.Just trying to make it as a habit. I swam 2 times too. It is good for my knees. Still they ache, especially right one these days. But I like the feeling. I can find more energy to do things, i like it best!!

Getting closer to XC.
Today noon we had a flight. Had to wait a bit for the snow clouds to go away. They did not seem going anywhere but we decided to give it a try. It was cold. Headed to the training area. It is not easy to keep track of where I am on the map. When I was looking at the map on my knee I made a slight left turn. It is hard. Trying to learn landmarks around. I should have been hanging around more often to learn the area. Now have to learn from the sky :)
I had a bit problem during second landing. I still had much air speed and was late to hold the nose up.
And after touching the ground took off again. I will keep the nose up earlier and will let it sink slowly. Every landing is different..
Hoping to fly first cross-country on 20 February with my instructor. Have to study FAA test as well. Lots of things to do, have to plan time effectively.

Days are passing pretty quickly. This was a busy week. Today I managed to go to Gym after work. Mostly walked and ran a bit for 2.5 miles. Cycled for 35 mins. Yesterday I was tired and had a headache. Today better, so I convinced myself for a little workout. Glad to do that.

Uçtu uçtu kuş uçtu!
Biraz da uçuş serüvenimden bahsetmek istiyorum. 2011 yılı Mayıs ayında yer derslerini almaya başladım. Temmuzda ilk uçuşuma başladım. Ara verdiğimde unuttum, yeniden başlıyor gibi oldum. İlk yalnız uçuşumu 23 Aralık 2011’de 3 iniş kalkış olarak yaptım. Geçen Cuma da ikinci meydan turumu attım. Transponderımı beklemede unuttum, yakıt pompasını ilk kalkışta açmayı unuttum. Daha dikkatli olmam lazım.
Yarın çalışma sahasına gidip geleceğim hocamla. Ardından havanın müsait olduğu bir ara çalışma sahasına ilk yalnızımı yapıcam. Harita üzerinden nerede olduğumu takip etmem gerekiyor, bir yandan uçarken.. aslında GPS de var uçakta ama her zaman nerede olduğunu bilmekte fayda var. Navigasyon aleti bozulabilir.
Önyargımı yendim uçuşla ilgili, yapabilirim. Kendime güveniyorum. Biraz daha fazla zaman ayırmam gerekiyor. İşle beraber yoğun oluyorum. Biliyorum bahane bulmamam lazım. Zamanımı daha iyi planlamalıyım. Yaz başında lisansımı almak istiyorum hayırlısıyla.
Bundan sonraki aşama seyrüsefer uçuşu. Uçuş planlaması yapmayı öğreneceğim. Bu arada FAA testine hazırlanıp onu da geçmem gerekiyor. 20 Şubatta ilk seyrüsefer uçuşumuz planlı. Çok heyecanlı ve mutluyum..

Şimdi gelelim diğer sanatçıyla ilgili hikayeye. Kütüphanedeki okuma grubumla okuduğumuz Cehennem Manzarası şeklinde çevirebileceğim Japon yazar Ryunosuke Akutagawa’nın yazdığı enteresan bir hikaye. Yazar 250 yıllık hanedanlık yönetiminin sona ermesinden 20 küsür yıl sonra dünyaya geliyor. Hikayedeki zalim güçlü kişiyi anlatırken acaba bu hanedanlık döneminde yaşanılan olaylardan mı etkilendi diye düşündüm. Hiçbir fikrim yok sadece tahmin. Bugün kütüphaneden Japon kültürü ile ilgili bir kitap aldım. Belki birşeyler öğrenebilirim. Yazarın doğumundan kısa süre sonra annesinin akıl sağlığı bozuluyor, akrabalarının yanında büyüyor ve onlar tarafından evlat ediniliyor. Babasından hiç bahsedilmemiş biyografide. Hikayedeki kızını çok seven ama işine abartılı şekilde tutkun olan baba karakterini acaba babasından mı diye aldı diye de düşündüm.
Okuması kolay geldi bana. Okuma gruplarının güzelliği de burada, normalde okumayı akıl edemeyeceğim bir yazarı okuma imkanı veriyor. Yoksa hep aynı yazarları okuyup devam ederdim.
Hikaye büyükler için korkunç bir masal. Hikayeyi bize bir din adamı anlatıyor. Eski zamanların birinde, bir kral varmış. Çok asil, çok kudretli bir yönetici bu. Maiyetinde yaşayan hizmetçiler, samuraylarla beraber bir de yaşlı ressam Yashihide ve genç ve güzel kızı da bulunmaktadır. Ressamı genelde sevmiyorlar. Konakta resmini yaptığı üç kadın kısa sürede ölüyor. Ressam çok yetenekli, zamanının en iyi ressamı. İyi olduğunu da biliyor. Sadece sanatına saygı duyuyor, dindar değil, yaptığı resimlerde bazı dini motifleri eleştirel bir şekilde kullanmasıyla tepkileri üzerine çekiyor.
Yaşlı ressamın adı verilen maymun hikayede önemli bir karakter. Ressamın kızı maymunu meyvelerini çaldığı birinden koruyor, o günden sonra maymun kızın yanından ayrılmıyor. Hatta bir seferinde maymun hikayeyi anlatan kişinin dikkatini çekerek kızı bir saldırıdan kurtarıyor.
Zalim hükümdar ressamdan sekiz cehennemin resmini yapmasını istiyor. Ressam bir çırağının üzerine baykuş gibi bir kuşu saldırtıyor, bir çırağını zincire vurup resmini çiziyor.
En son ateşler içinde yanan bir kadın resmi çizecek, gözüyle görmediğini çizemediğini krala iletiyor. Kral da tamam senin için arabamı ateşe veririm, içinde de bir kadın olur, o yanarken sen de izlersin diyor. Sonra da resmedersin diyor.
Ve ressamın kızını yakıyor. Cesur maymun kızı ateşler içinde görünce onu kurtarmak için fırlıyor ancak o da yanarak can veriyor.
Neden böyle korkunç bir hikaye yazmış yazar? Okuyunca rahatsız etti beni hikaye.. Maymun o kadar zalim insanların tam tersi olarak daha insanca davranıyor. Sanatçı olmak çok aşırılarda olmayı mı gerektiriyor. O yaratıcılık anı geçtiğinde sakin bir şekilde hayatına devam edemez mi? Çıraklarının canını yakıyor. Kızının ölümünü nasıl izleyebiliyor? Neden onu kurtarmaya çalışmıyor, onu o kadar sevmesine rağmen?

Son dönemde izlediğim bir oyun ve okuduğum bir hikaye kapsamında bir parça sanat ve sanatçıdan bahsetmek istiyorum, haddim olmayarak. İzlediğim oyunun adı ‘Kırmızı’. John Logan’ın yazdığı bir oyun. Huysuzluk seviyesinde titiz bir ressam, Mark Rothko ve yanında henüz çalışmaya başlayan asistanı, Ken arasında geçen diyaloglardan oluşuyor oyun. Lüks bir restoran için resimler yapan ressam, asistanına resmine bakıp ne gördüğünü sorar, sanat eğitiminin artık iyi olmadığını, zamane sanatçılarını beğenmediğini dillendirir. Kimse ne yeterince iyi bir sanatçı, resimlerini satın alanlarsa yeterince iyi sanatsever değildir. Yeni yeni zengin olan sonrada görme kişilerdir sadece. Resimler biter, ressam restorana gider, dehşet içinde döner atölyeye. Restorandaki atmosferi beğenmez, oraya gidenler sadece birbirlerine bakmaktadır. Ortamda bir sıcaklık, samimiyet yoktur. Resimlerinin orada kalmasına gönlü razı olmaz, aldığı parayı iade edip resimlerinin geri gönderilmesini ister.
Oyun ilerledikçe asistanı daha yakından tanırız, acılarını anlatır, umutla getirdiği resmi ustasına gösteremeden atölyeden sessizce çıkarmasına tanık oluruz. Asistan ressamla konuşmalarının birinde sinirlenir, ustasına kendi düşüncelerini sertçe açıklar ve kovuldum mu diye sorar.. Aldığı cevap dikkat çekicidir, ‘İlk defa var oldun’ der ustası..
Eserlerini yaratırken yaşadığı gerginliği gördüm oyunda. Paraya ihtiyacı vardır ama resimlerinin değer görmeyeceği bir yerde sergilenmesine de gönlü razı olmaz.
Oyun bende resim yapma isteği doğurdu. Epeydir fırsatım olmadı. Bir çok değerli sanatçılardan da dem vurdu. Fırsat bulup oyunu alıp okumak keyifli olabilir..

I run around 10 miles last week. It will be interesting to keep track of it. Hope to see some progress.
My back was sore from yesterday's workout. It was my bad, I should have been more careful.
Today I swam for half an hour. I enjoyed my easy workout. And back feels better.
I heard that they measure your body fat/ muscle at one of the Gym I go. I would like to do that. It will be nice to see the difference after 7-8 months.
It was a busy day. So, my work out at the end of the day was like a reward. It is really like that. If I feel healthy enough to go, I should go. It really feels awesome!! I don't know if I would get bored of working out if I did not do it for fun, if it was something that I had to do.
There are no wonderful news going around the world. Sometimes I feel guilty to feel good. Or my little problems are not real problems when I listen to the news.. Being aware of them and feel sorry for them is not enough, I know. Maybe just the first tiny step to be a human being who is aware of.

I heard that they measure your body fat/ muscle at one of the Gym I go. I would like to do that. It will be nice to see the difference after 7-8 months.
It was a busy day. So, my work out at the end of the day was like a reward. It is really like that. If I feel healthy enough to go, I should go. It really feels awesome!! I don't know if I would get bored of working out if I did not do it for fun, if it was something that I had to do.
There are no wonderful news going around the world. Sometimes I feel guilty to feel good. Or my little problems are not real problems when I listen to the news.. Being aware of them and feel sorry for them is not enough, I know. Maybe just the first tiny step to be a human being who is aware of.
